The great impact of the Chiado fire in 1988 resulted in an urban renovation of great extent, in order to gain the requalifacation of this quarter. However what may have happened next. Most of the commercial establishments on the garret streets were empty. The lack of interaction with the public space caused by this emptiness in such an area intended for commerce, concluded that something was absent. The idea of this project was to reestablish the participative functions of these private areas with public areas and citizens. ”the streets are the address of the collective. The collective is an eternally agitated essence, in constant movement, movement, between the building façades, that endures, experiments, learns and feels as much as an individual protected by four walls.” Walter Benjamin
