The project consisted in reconverting two warehouses, each with 9, 5 metres wide, 27, 3 metres long and 11 metres high, located in the outskirts of Lisbon , into a single element of warehouse and office for a road sign company.
The main goal was to create a structure of metal frame apart from the existing walls, so that the zenithal light could penetrate in all the working spaces. The use standard and low price construction systems, aimed to meet the client's desire of cost containment and to follow the constructive processes already defined in the construction of the existent warehouse: prefabricated concrete walls and polycarbonate and zinc panelled roofing.
The low and elongated equipment through which passes all the ventilation, telecommunications and electrical infrastructures was painted red. The volumes containing the WCs and kitchen were covered with a blue reflective film usually used by the company in road signalling.
