ALCOUTIM

The area involved was systematized by a subdivision of project areas, which resulted in three parts: the Historic Villa, the Valley and the New Villa. The purpose was to involve each area by following a methodology that could promote existing specifications, accentuate the differences and lead to the consolidation of a heterogeneous in whole. The main purpose to the Historical Villa, Zone One, was the existence of walled- in contour. The constructions on limits of this historic nucleous, with sustaining walls, defined the on foot routs that enabled new accessibilities, transforming a stagnant wall system into a permeable system.
The project considered Zone Two: the Valley, (a space between that assumed itself as a Park) as an area of productivity and recreation.
A new parking lot on top of a platform built on the bridge, shall be created in this area to conditions the entry of automobile vehicles in the old frame of the villa.
The New Villa, Zone Three, is the preferential area for the implantation of new equipment since it has been recently considered an area of urban expansion in Alcoutim: the building concerned consisted of the formation of a Canoeing School, that fitted in with the original topography. A Public Space defined the covering that overlooks the Guadiana river.
